Snapshot

Danskammer Generating Station has 11 groundwater monitoring wells, 7 of which have been polluted above federal advisory levels based on samples collected between February 01, 2010 and December 16, 2015. Groundwater at this site contains unsafe levels of arsenic, thallium, selenium and boron.

Site description

New York's Danskammer Generating Station, currently owned by Helios Power Capital, LLC, is located on the Hudson River near Newburgh, NY. The 387 MW coal-fired power plant began operating in the 1930s. Units 3 and 4 were converted to natural gas in 2012, while Units 1 and 2 burn natural gas but have the capacity to burn oil as a backup.
