Louisa Generating Station has 15 groundwater monitoring wells, 3 of which have been polluted above federal advisory levels based on samples collected between December 14, 2015 and October 10, 2017. Groundwater at this site contains unsafe levels of sulfate, molybdenum, arsenic and fluoride.

Site description

MidAmerican Energy Company’s Louisa Generating Station is in Muscatine, Iowa along the banks of the Mississippi River in Louisa County. Louisa Generating Station operates one 783-MW coal-fired unit in commission since 1983. MidAmerican Energy Company capped its 34-acre ash pond in 2016. Louisa Generating Station’s Surface Impoundment and Landfill are regulated under the CCR rule. You can find the industry-reported data here.
