Site description

The Cedar Falls Leversee Road Ash Disposal Site is located west of the Waterloo Municipal Airport in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The site has been used for coal ash disposal from the Streeter Station Power Plant since 1976 and is operated by the Cedar Falls Municipal Electric Utility. The 9-acre site also contains some fill dirt and concrete rubble. According to the utility's 2014 annual groundwater quality report, the landfill contained about 111,925 tons of wastes as of October 2014.
