Site description

The Muskegon County Type III Landfill is located in Ravenna, Michigan. The Type III Landfill collected bottom and fly ash from the B.C. Cobb Power Plant and is located adjacent to a municipal solid waste landfill. The Type III Landfill has been inactive since 2001 and was closed and capped after a class action suit brought by neighbors. The landfill is being monitored post-closure.

The landfill is listed among the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's potential damage cases, indicating that it has potentially polluted groundwater or surface water at levels which threaten human health and the environment.
